Daily Glass of Milk Linked to Lower Bowel Cancer Risk

A major UK study has found that consuming an extra 300mg of calcium daily, equivalent to a glass of milk, can reduce the risk of bowel cancer by 17%. Calcium, whether from dairy or non-dairy sources like leafy greens, tofu, or fortified plant-based milk, binds to harmful acids in the colon, lowering cancer risk.

The study also confirmed that excessive alcohol and processed meat consumption increase the likelihood of bowel cancer, while fibre, whole grains, and vitamin C provide slight protective benefits.

Experts emphasize a balanced diet, reduced alcohol and red meat intake, and calcium-rich foods as key steps to lowering bowel cancer risk. Stay active and maintain a healthy lifestyle to further improve your overall health.
